Stranger Things: Season 2 – Review

ST2

Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead

Once again the Duffer brothers have created an incredible show that I had to restrain myself from watching all at once! Season two is, in the grand tradition of sequels, even more than season one, with more characters, storylines and of course monsters all paired with equally terrifying action-packed adventure. There so much I want to say and gush about, however, I’ve had to restrain myself and attempt to put all my feelings and emotions into words and fully functioning sentences.

Last season the focus was very much on Mike and Eleven, however, this season it was nice to see that some of our other much-loved characters got their own storylines and focus. Dustin was a favourite of mine in the first season and now I love him even more and would love to have him as a younger brother. His new found relationship with Steve made me fall in love with both of them even more and I need more of this brotherly dynamic. You’ve probably seen the whole internet fall in love with Steve Harrington with his huge character development, that has seen him change from an arrogant pretty boy to this caring and brave young man. God, I just love him, and if the Duffer brothers are looking for someone to play the role of his new love interest then sign me up!

You’ve probably seen the whole internet fall in love with Steve Harrington with his huge character development, that has seen him change from an arrogant pretty boy to this caring and brave young man. God, I just love him, and if the Duffer brothers are looking for someone to play the role of his new love interest in season 3 then sign me up! I thought I’d be more excited about Johnathan and Nancy finally getting together but I think my love and appreciation for Steve has grown so much that I want Nancy to be with him instead!

The addition of Max as a character to balance the group dynamic was fab and I love her relationship with Lucas! I can’t discuss character relationships without mentioning Mike and Eleven. I cried when they had their reunion but I was disappointed that I had to wait till nearly the finale episode for them to reunite. However, the ending of the entire season did make up for that and had my heart melting, I need more of these characters!

Someone just give Noah Shapp an Emmy already because his performance was absolutely incredible, for someone so young being able to perform to such a — level is mindblowing. In all honesty, the whole cast deserves endless praise because they all successfully bring these much-loved characters to life and all give a stunning performance that leaves me wanting more of their characters and performance.

It’s these new multiple storylines that help carry the show and make it more fun and engaging than the first season. We learn more about the characters and beginnings of new friendships as well as more of the backstory of Hawkins Lab with episode seven being entirely dedicated to Eleven and her journey into discovering more about her past. We still have all the action and mystery we had in the first season but now we’ve got more storylines to share it with, keeping us all on the edge of our seats and ending each episode with a serious cliffhanger, making it addicting and hard not to binge!

Most Anticipated Fall TV Shows

Fall TV

Fall is one of my favourite seasons of the year, all the cosy jumpers and scarfs, hot drinks from Starbucks and the changing autumnal surroundings and finally its one of the busiest television seasons of the year, with the return of TV favourites and debuts of new ones! So I thought I’d share a few of my favourites and maybe help you find your next binge worthy show..!

  1. Riverdale: Season 2 – 11th October. I was late to the party with this show and I’m so glad that I finally caved and binged this show because it has everything you would want from a TV show; mystery, romance and of course a bit of drama!
  2. The Shanarah Chronicles: Season 2 – 11th October. I have been waiting for this show to return for soooo long, and I swear I’m one of the only people who watch it! Any fellow fans out there? Again I’m in love with this world and all of its characters and I just hope that season is just as good as the first!
  3. Once Upon A Time: Season 7 – 7th October. I still have mixed feelings about the return of this show because of the whole new curse and return of only a few certain characters, however I’m going to be hopeful and go into this show with an open mind. Colin O’Donoghue and Lana Parrilla we’re two of my favourite characters so I’m glad to see them return and I’m already loving thier new charatcers as well as all the new ones!
  4. Outlander: Season 3 – 10th September. I understand that we’re on the fifth episode now but I had to include it on this list because it’s one of my favourite TV shows and we’re not too far ahead, so you can catch up! This show has exceeded my expectations and every episode leaves me impatiently waiting for more because it is just so brilliant. If you watch any show on this list please let it be Outlander and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!
  5. Stranger Things: Season 2 – 27th October. Finally, this show is returning to our screens and around Halloween as well, which leads me to hope that this next season is going to be spookier and more mysterious than the first! The trailers and the episode names already have me shaking with excitement and I can’t wait to go on another adventure with this loveable bunch characters!
  6. The Walking Dead: Season Eight – 22nd October. I used to be a fan of the Walking Dead but I lost track and it all got very confusing, however, it is something I have considered getting back into (because I haven’t got enough shows to watch already!).

5 Reason Why You Should Watch Stranger Things

STS1

If you don’t know about ‘Stranger Things’ where have you been for the past few weeks, like seriously it has been all over the internet and social media — its everywhere! ‘Stranger Things’ is set in the 80’s and is a unique supernatural drama which will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! Here are five reasons why you should binge-watch it right now…

1.The Kids

The child actors in this series are some of the best I’ve seen and are all truly incredible. Their performances are powerful yet sometimes haunting and bring these brilliant characters to life in a realistic and lovable way. The four characters who anchor the series — Mike, Eleven, Lucas, and Dustin — are all played by unknown actors but all have made their mark in the industry from their performance here and I really look forward to seeing more of their work in Season 2!

2. Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder triumphantly returns to our screens as Joyce Byers, a chain-smoking, bedraggled single mother searching for her missing son. Ryder manages to humanize a role that posed a real risk of being annoying or repetitive; Once again another incredible performance.

3. The Soundtrack

Right from the opening sequence, eerie I fell in love with the series soundtrack and score. It has an eerie but dramatic feel to it while also creating an eighties vibe to it and I highly recommend you give it a listen. The soundtrack throws you straight back into the eighties with his classic songs like “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash, or “Africa” by Toto; Just brilliant.

4. The Storyline

Another amazing element of this series as it never fails to keep you on the edge of seat thanks to it’s pacing and mysterious plot. It certainly wasn’t predictable but I loved all the subtle foreshadowing from the very first episode and I look forward to seeing where the story takes us in season 2.

5. The Throwbacks

Although I am not from the 80’s, it was great to see all the throwbacks and references to other classic 80’s films like ET and The Goonies which are some of my favorite.

I highly recommend that if you haven’t watched ‘Stranger Things’ then you should drop everything and binge watch it now! It is such an incredible show that will leave you wanting more and I feel inclined to say that it is my favorite TV show of 2016.
