O.W.L.s Magical Read-a-thon Week #1

One week down, another three to go! So far I’m really enjoying this read-a-thon and I have successfully managed to stick to all of my reading goals/plans. I’m loving all the Twitter spirts and G’s ability to create such an immersive reading environment with her storytelling. My goal for this read-a-thon is to read 10 books and I’m quietly confident that I’m going to reach my goal! Let me know if you’re taking part and how you’re finding this years O.W.L.s in the comments below!

Currently Reading: A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer. I’m not usually a fan of cross-world fantasies but this one is actually really enjoyable! I’ve only got about 100 pages left, which I know I’m going to fly through this evening.

Pages Read: 602

Books Read: 3/10

Hogwarts Professor/ Auror:

History of Magic – Witch Hunts: A Book Featuring Witches/Wizards

Truthwitch by Susan Denard. I went into this book with high expectations as it includes everything I want out of a fantasy series, a group of strong characters, intricate magical/political systems and an intense storyline, and I wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed this series so much that I’ve had to change some books on my current read-a-thon TBR as I need to keep reading this series especially after that ending!

Potions – Shrinking Solution: Read a Book Under 150 Pages

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn. This is the perfect read for any read-a-thon, its a short and intense story that fans of Flynn will certainly enjoy. My only two disappointments were that a) it was too short and b) the ending, I just wanted more.

Animagus Training:

Potions – Shrinking Solution: Read a Book Under 150 Pages

Cheri by Collette. I always love a bit of Colette, and Cheri did not disappoint. It was fabulous, french and fashionably outrageous!

  1. Well done for making such progress with the readathon! I haven’t taken part this year, though I knew I wanted to do it since I missed it last year too. Hope you get through your TBR, and happy reading 🙂 x

  2. Sounds like you’re making great progress! I haven’t read any of these books myself. As for the O.W.L.s I took it easy this year and only need to read 4 books. I’m on the last one 🙂 I look forward to seeing your updates on your O.W.Ls!
