Our Favourite Book Covers of 2018 – 12 Days of Blogmas

People say never to judge a book by its cover but its a cliche I ignore when I’m in Waterstones as I’m almost always drawn to anything with a gorgeous cover! But it’s getting harder and harder these days as most of the books there have beautiful covers making it even harder to choose which to books to buy and which ones to leave behind! This year however I haven’t bought many books but that hasn’t stopped me filling my Amazon wishlist with new releases and exciting reads. Let us know what your favorite book cover of 2018 was in the comments and also keep your eyes peeled for our end of year favorites post which will be up on New Year’s Eve!

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas – This whole series is stunning especially the UK versions which are all white and have Celenea in some battle-ready position on the cover. This cover is one of my particular favorites as I’m loving the gold armor and lettering, and can we please just talk about how badass she looks! I don’t think I’m ready for this book but I’m desperate to find out what happens!

And The Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness – Every Patrick Ness cover is always absolutely stunning, I swear it must be in his publishing contract! I’ve never actually read any of his books but I do have a few of them on my shelf as I just can’t resist their beautiful covers!

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan – I’m usually not a fan over covers with giant female faces on them but this is an exception and it is giving me serious mystical and magical vibes. I’m also loving the color scheme with the pinks, purples and dark blues, it’s just so pretty!

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare – I’d expect nothing less from Cassandra Clare, her covers are always beautiful and I’m loving the bold red fabric which really makes a statement and is different from the series blue color scheme.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – Another book that’s been sitting in my Amazon basket for a while as it was one of the most talked about reads of 2018.

Legendary by Stephanie Garber – If you’ve been following this blog for a while then you’ll know that I fell totally and utterly in love with the first book in this series but I haven’t yet started the second one! The cover is gorgeous and definitely gives me all the magical carnival vibes we got from the first book.

Furyborn by Clare Legrand – I saw this book floating around the Booktube community which is how it made its way into my Amazon wishlist and hopefully it can make its way to my door soon! Already from the cover, I can tell that this book is going to be something up my street! Fantasy is my favourite genre to read as I love being transported to different worlds so when I heard the plot for this book I was instantly hooked on how unique and epic it sounded!

Bright We Burn by Kiersten White – Who knew a pomegranate could look so good on a YA fantasy cover? The covers of these books always attract my attention to the point where I really want to start this series in the new year! If you’ve read this series please let me know whether it’s worth reading in the comments or whether I should just keep admiring these covers instead!

Six of Crows: Collectors Edition by Leigh Bardugo – This is honestly the most beautiful cover I have ever seen and I need on my shelves! The black and red cover and the stunning character illustrations need to be framed in some gallery. The original covers were already gorgeous but these new collectors editions are something else entirely. Not only is Six of Crows one of my favorite series ever but Leigh Bardugo is also right up there as one of my top authors. She imagines these worlds that are so unique and special and I instantly fall in love with every character she creates. If you haven’t yet read this series then you are seriously missing out and is a series that needs to make its way either on to your TBR or Christmas list!
